This Privacy Policy applies to the BalaShoppa mobile application and related support pages hosted at balashoppa.stanleydesign.co.za.

BalaShoppa is designed as a local-first inventory tool. Your core inventory database is stored on your device unless you choose to export it or use features that require external processing.
1. Information we collect or process
BalaShoppa may collect or process the following information:
- Inventory data you enter, including product names, quantities, buy prices, selling prices, stock thresholds, notes, and transaction history.
- Business profile details you choose to add, such as shop name, owner name, registration number, phone number, email address, and address.
- Images you choose to scan for receipts, invoices, or delivery notes.
- Subscription and purchase status, including product identifiers, entitlement status, purchase dates, renewal or expiry information, and app store transaction metadata.
- Consent records, privacy policy version accepted, app settings, and local audit log entries.
- Crash and diagnostic information if crash reporting is enabled in a production build. We configure crash reporting not to collect default personal identifiers.
2. Where data is stored
Your main inventory database is stored locally on your device using an embedded database. BalaShoppa does not operate a central inventory server for your stock records.
Data may leave your device only in these cases:
- You choose to export or share data, such as CSV or JSON files.
- You use document scanning, which sends the selected image to an OCR provider for text extraction.
- You make an in-app purchase, which is processed by the app store and RevenueCat.
- Crash reporting is enabled and an error report is sent for diagnostics.
3. Document scanning and OCR
If you use the receipt, invoice, or delivery note scan feature, the image you select may be sent to OCR.space or another configured OCR provider so text can be extracted.
BalaShoppa does not use scanned images for advertising. We do not intentionally keep scanned images after processing inside the app. The OCR provider processes data according to its own terms and privacy policy. You can read OCR.space's privacy policy at https://ocr.space/privacypolicy.
The scan feature is optional. You can avoid external OCR processing by entering stock manually.
4. Purchases and RevenueCat
BalaShoppa uses RevenueCat to manage in-app purchase status and entitlements. RevenueCat may receive purchase-related information such as product identifiers, entitlement status, app user identifiers, transaction dates, store, country or region, and renewal or expiry information.
Payment details such as card numbers are handled by the relevant app store payment provider, not by BalaShoppa.

5. How we use information
We use information to:
- Provide inventory management, reporting, export, and subscription features.
- Show whether PRO or MAX features are active.
- Process OCR requests when you choose to scan a document.
- Provide support and respond to privacy requests.
- Maintain app security, diagnose technical issues, and improve reliability.
- Meet legal, tax, accounting, fraud-prevention, and app store compliance obligations.
6. Legal basis and consent
Where required by applicable law, including South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), we process personal information on appropriate grounds such as your consent, performance of the app service, compliance with legal obligations, and legitimate interests such as app security and support.
You can withdraw consent for optional OCR processing by not using the scan feature. You can delete local app data from the app's privacy screen or by uninstalling the app.
7. Data retention
Local inventory data remains on your device until you delete it, reset the app, or uninstall BalaShoppa. Exported files remain wherever you choose to save or share them.
Purchase records are retained by the app store and RevenueCat according to their legal, tax, security, and service obligations. Support emails are retained as long as reasonably needed to respond and keep business records.
8. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, object to processing, restrict processing, withdraw consent, export data, and lodge a complaint with a data protection authority.

To make a request, email support@stanleydesign.co.za. Because most inventory data is stored only on your device, we may not be able to access or recover that data for you.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect data we process. No app, device, or network can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Keep your device locked and backed up where appropriate.
10. Children
BalaShoppa is intended for business use and is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
11. International processing
Some providers, including OCR, purchase, crash-reporting, hosting, and support providers, may process information outside your country. Where applicable, we rely on appropriate safeguards or provider commitments for cross-border processing.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, request renewed consent in the app.
